Emergency managers in Central Alabama, asked people not to drive on roads of the area Monday night as the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee moved across the region. The warning was published as part of a post Civil Defence Emergency Management Agency and Alabama passed by the National Weather Service:
The following message was issued at the request of county agencies following ALABAMA EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ... WALKER ... Etowah ... JEFFERSON ... Blount ... ST. CLEAR ... ... CHEROKEE Shelby and Talledega. Driving conditions on roads in parts of central Alabama has become extremely dangerous and potentially fatal, that evening. Many local roads and highways within a county and state have been closed due to flooding. The roads are not closed can still be very dangerous. IN ADDITION TO THE WIND ... knock down many trees and power lines in the districts. These trees ADD another warning for TRAVEL tonight. Now that the sun went ... Trees blocking roads and flooded roads are very difficult to see until it's too late. Many first responders navigate AREA ROADS. SOME rescues are underway.
